Four partners from Austria, Germany and Switzerland founded the IST Ltd. The four specialists in sintering processes brought a measurement equipment on the market offering new possibilities. |
| 1996 | The IST Ltd was bought by Dr. H. Schmid. From then on the company was run as a family company. | |
| 1997 | The first Diashape system was available on the market. |

Two years later the Powdershape was born. The FACT Fine Abrasives Taiwan Co., Ltd started to sell Diashape in the Far East |

| 2000 | Research project "Charakterisierung der Faserfeinheit von Baumwollfasern" with the Faserinstitut Bremen. | |
| 2001 | The Fibreshape system was released for the first time. |

| 2003 | Research project "Bildanalytische Charakterisierung von Nadelfilz" with the Faserinstitut Bremen. Research project "Possibilities of fibre - particle mixture characterization using quantitative image analysis" with the University of Florida. Flockmaschinen GmbH is our new distributor for Flockshape |

Research project "Image analysis method for the characterisation of mineral and fibrous materials" with the TU Cottbus IST-Ficotex started to sell Fibreshape in Germany |

| 2005 | Reasearch project "Determination of fibre quality for MDF-product with the Institute for Wood Physics and Mechanical Technology of Wood at the Federal Research Centre for Forestry and Forest Products in Hamburg. Granuloshop is distributing Powdershape and Fibreshape in France and Belgium. |

| 2006 | The new handdriven sample feeder eases the preparation and the scanning of the samples. Research project "Charakterisierung von Crimp" with the Faserinstitut Bremen. |

| 2007 | Diashape 5.0.0 was released. Franz Heiligenbrunner is our new distributor for Fibreshape in Austria. |

| 2009 | The automatic sample feeder was launched as a new product that offers a comfortable handling of sample preparation and scanning. Research project "Anwendungsspezifische Additivierung neuer naturfaserverstärkter Kunststoffe (NFK) und Wood Plastic Composites (WPC)" with the FH Hannover. New distributors for Fibreshape were found in Brazil, Portugal and Germany. |

MCIK covers the Korean market for Fibreshape. |

| 2011 | The new system Powdershape Aqua allows you to characterize the shape and size of particles in liquids. |

| 2012 | In January the first IST Newsletter was sent out. We added a RSS news feed to our website that our customers or interested people stay up to date on what is going on in the world of fibres and
particles and especially on our systems. |
